- The difficult question of whether or not to use hormone replacement therapy remains unresolved.
- Women who are premenopausal may need to be cautioned about taking aspiring in the 2 weeks prior to their menses if their bleeding is excessive with this medication.
- Observational data suggesting that women seem to benefit from the sue of hormones to prevent heart disease was no borne out in the HERS and WHI studies.
- Many women have gone back to taking hormones because of quality of life issues:
- depression
- anxiety
- lack of sleep
- hot flashes
- and others
- The question is raised as to whether Statins can ameliorate the potential harmful effects of HRT (conjugated equine estrogen and medroxyprogesterone). Only research will tell.
