I was asked for a short bio for a speaking engagement. This is what I sent:

James L. Holly, MD, is the Founder and CEO of SETMA (www.jameslhollymd.com) a multi-specialty practice which adopted EHR in 1998 and developed extensive disease management and clinical decision support tools.

SETMA is a HIMSS Davies Award winner, an NCQA Tier III Patient-Center Medical Home (2010-2019), an accredited medical home by Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Healthcare (2010-2017), a Joint Commission accredited ambulatory and PC-MH (2014-2020) and a URAC PC-MH 2014-2017 and an awardee of the highest level of HIMSS stories of Success.

Dr. Holly writes and speaks extensively on healthcare public policy, informatics and the transformation of healthcare. All of these publications are posted at www.jameslhollymd.com.

Dr. Holly also prepared a 4,000 page manual for CMS’ Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative (TCPI). It can be reviewed at

Dr. and Mrs. Holly endowed a PC-MH Distinguished Chair at UT Health San Antonio, a Distinguished Visiting Professor Lectureship in PC-MH and a Primary Care Institute, also at UT Health San Antonio.

In 2016, Dr. Holly received the inaugural award for PC-MH from the PC-PCC. In 2012, Dr. Holly was awarded the HIMSS’ Physician IT Leadership Award.
