Abortion promoted and Primary Care Providers are going to be pressured to provide abortions
This is a note, I sent to the providers and staff at SETMA. I can't attach the articles (referred to as the attached article) but the one from the American Journal of Public Health is promoting Primary Care Practices becoming abortion providers.
The attached article from the American Journal of Public Health is heart breaking. Fortunately, SETMA has a legal prohibition, in our founding documents, which prevent any person working for or with SETMA from performing, recommending, facilitating or referring a patient for an abortion. As I read with disbelief such statements as:
• “To realize the promise of Roe v Wade…”
• “…restrictive laws driven by ideology, not science, are undermining the promise of Roe v Wade…”
• “…first trimester must be integrated into primary care…”
• “Nurse practitioners, certified nurse midwives, and physician assistances have been increasing their commitment to abortion care…”
Words like “promise,” ideology,” “commitment,” and “care” related to abortion are disappointing, disheartening and alarming.
In my book, Life and Death, published by Boardman in July, 1995, I opposed the persecution and killing of abortion providers. I remain commitment to a consistent pro-life position of opposing abortion, capital punishment and assaulting of those with whom I disagree. Nothing can change my opposition to violence in order to oppose abortion, but I am appalled at how aggressive supporters and proponents of abortion have become.
The second attachment (again, I cannot attach that to this Facebook note) is the policy statement on Emergency Contraception for adolescents by the American Academy of Pediatrics. It is difficult to read this extensive statement published by people who have dedicated their lives to treating children but who aggressively support abortion through “emergency contraception.”
As SETMA continues to be one of the leaders in healthcare transformation, I am increasingly aware that because we are pro-life, our opinions and participation in the national healthcare debate is not taken seriously. The solution? We will continue to work hard to deliver the best healthcare any where. We will continue to create new and innovative tools for the transformation of healthcare delivery. And, where possible, we will continue to offer our perspective, insight, knowledge and experience to those who are interested. And, we will continue to embrace all human beings as special creations worthy of our love and care, possessing absolute intrinsic value, even and especially those who are not yet born.
When the Apostle Paul told Titus to “have the older women to teach the younger women to love THEIR children,” the translators got it wrong. The Greek says, “teach them to love children.” That means to love all children – yours, mine, everyone’s. We could possibly stop the gun violence against children if we did not have legal violence toward children justified by healthcare "authorities, " which violence is called abortion.
