Why is hand washing important in virus control?

A virus is made of a single strand of RNA (ribonucleic acid).  The strand is encased in a lipid covering.  lipid is a fat.

Fat is denatured by soap suds or  by heat.

When you wash your hands vigorously with foaming soap, the lipid coating of the virus is destroyed thereby killing the virus.

Do you think that you will wash your hands properly and often if you know that in doing so you are killing the virus.
