This is the annual progress report from Surescripts. I have worked with Surescripts on several projects and presentations If you scroll down this report there is an interview with me where I respond to a series of questions. Toward the end there is a counter for how many prescriptions Surescripts has processed in the time you have been on the site. In two minutes, it will be over 30,000 scripts.

Almost all electronic medical records in America are linked with Surescripts. The tools for electronic prescribing of prescriptions, routine and controlled substances, and for medication reconciliation are amazing.

When I have a patient whom I think may be getting medication from multiple providers and/or pharmacies, I show them the Surescripts "medication history" function. In the examination room, in the patient's electronic record during the patient's visit, I open the Surescripts ' function. In a moment every prescription which the patient has obtained from every pharmacy appears. That is the power of information technology. That is the power of Surescripts.
