Letters - Introduction to the story of the visit, Chinese delegation, July 26-27, 2016

The attached is my column for this week.  It addresses the Chinese Delegation which arrives to SETMA at 9 AM this morning for their third visit.  Their principal goal is to learn more about PC-MH.  SETMA is incorporating our “offer” to CMS’ TCPI into this two-day conference.  We are presenting each of the 11-member delegation with a complete copy (9 notebooks with over 3,500 pages of material) of this Library.  Reference is made by the delegation to the June, 2014 materials which we provided to them and which they have incorporated into their primary care efforts in China, translating much of it.

SETMA has enjoyed the contact with physicians and executives from China and Australia as well as with hundreds of practices across America.  We believe that the future of healthcare is bright and that the innovations we have deployed over the past twenty years are solid and sustainable.

SETMA has just come through a very difficult time which resulted from decreased reimbursement from CMS for Medicare Advantage and the Affordable Care Act tax of $1,700,000 on our IPA.  It appears that we have successfully navigated the 28% reduction in MA reimburse and the ACA Tax.

I have never been so proud as I have been of SETMA’s partners who never wavered in their commitment to excellence, to the PC-MH Model of care and to the making of it possible for our most vulnerable patients to continue to receive care, even over the six months in which their own salaries were either reduced or suspended.  You never know what you believe until it costs you something and you don’t compromise.  They haven’t flinched.  My hat is off t them.

I hope you enjoy reviewing our efforts to encourage and train our colleagues and friends from China.
