Carolyn and I are at the UT Health Presidential Gala in San Antonio, September 23, 2017.
Cinderella's Slipper broke.
Never happened before but last night after all festivities, Carolyn's beautiful shoes experienced a malfunction. The heel came off her shoe. She was so cute walking back to our room barefooted.
Student Dance
President Bill Henrich had me say a few words to the six hundred students who attended. Turns out that the earnings from one of out student endowments were used to fund the dance after the presentations.
My Comments.
I told the students and the band director, I have never heard Motzart played like that. It must be an improvisation.
I told the students that they have to keep my secret because we are Baptist and we don't dance. Smile
Finally, I told they how proud we are of them, how much we love them and that they are the future of healthcare in Texas, in America and indeed in the world.
I concluded with a sincere and a serious importation of God's pleasing upon them when I said, God bless all of you."
I realized later that I should have said, in keeping with the theme of the Gala, that it is their "passion, purpose and promise," which will change the future as they care for "people."
The Star of the Evening
Even with the equipment malfunction, you can believe that Carolyn was THE STAR of the evening. One man walked up to her within minutes of our arrival and said to Carolyn in front of his wife, "You don't know me but you are absolutely gorgeous."
Only one person out of the thousand present did not believe that, and it wasn't me.
