Dr. Holly,
I must apologize for the delay in sending this message. I ve traveled a lot since I visited with you and am trying to catch up now. First, thank you so much for your kindness and hospitality while I was there. It was such a pleasure to meet you and Dr. Leifeste and to have the opportunity to see and hear what all you and your group at SETMA are doing. It was so interesting having the opportunity to actually see all the things you ve created and how it all functions to improve patient care and the quality of the work you are doing. Your willingness to share with me and to answer my many questions was very much appreciated.
Please let the others in your organization know how impressive it is to see the way your organization functions and the ease with which you are able to literally see progress in so many different facets of your work. As we discussed the EMRs, I was in awe of the ease of use, the quantity and quality of the information being collected, and the application of the information obtained through your practice in a multitude of ways. Your vision and determination were evident in the enormous progress your organization has made under your direction.
It was also nice to hear in our discussion that through it all, your public sharing of knowledge and outcomes was taken seriously in that the physicians want to use the information to do what is necessary to provide the best possible patient care. My interest in the PCMH has piqued in the last year and your insight about the designation was invaluable.
As I mentioned when I was there, I would love for you to come this fall and share with Texas A&M Health Science Center s College of Medicine about your PCMH work and the EMRs as well. I hope you are able to do so; I know there are others here who would benefit from your expertise. Please let me know what month might be best for you. We try to have the meetings on Tuesdays and preferably around the noon hour. Our second choice is at 5:15 in the afternoon in order to meet physician schedules.
It was also interesting to discover it is a small world, since I m from the area and the recognition of your name was not just from a professional standpoint but from a relative as well. I knew I had heard your name from someone! Thank you again for lunch, for taking so much time and for making me feel welcome. I hope to see you again in the fall. Thanks; please keep up the great work.
