SETMA's care for the elderly is founded on our commitment to the sanctity of human life and to the proposition that everyone deserves to preserve their personal dignity. SETMA's treatment of Nursing Home residents is grounded in our electronic patient management with nationally acclaimed treatment tools for the special needs of elderly patients who require residential care. If you or a loved one has need of these services you owe it to yourself to see the standard of care being set by SETMA.

SETMA's development of a healthcare team in the nursing home, has brought delight to the staff and residents of nursing facilities as the weekly presence of physicians and in their facilities. Families have benefit from the physical presence of a complete healthcare team brings to families and residents. SETMA's new pattern of delivery of care to nursing-home residents has raised the quality of care delivered to nursing home residents, not because it has changed the commitment to excellence by the nursing home staff; that has always been there. It has changed the quality because the nursing home professionals now are getting the cooperation and support they have always needed to fulfill the goals and quality to which they have always been committed.

SETMA stands against nursing home abuse! Absolutely! In collaboration with nursing-home administrators who equally oppose nursing home abuse, SETMA continues to encourage excellent, compassionate, consistent quality care for residents of nursing homes. SETMA maintains it is nursing-home administrators, it is the nursing-home directors of nursing and it is the nursing-home staff members who are standing against nursing home abuse. They do so every day of their life both as a professional and as a personal commitment.

And, never forget, excellence is not found in the absence of mistakes or errors; excellence is demonstrated in how a person, company or organization responds to mistakes. The nursing homes I know dont cover up their mistakes; they correct them. The nursing-home administrators and staffs whom I know don't cover up abuse; they prevent abuse with their vigilance, diligence, dedication and personal commitment. I am proud of most of the nursing homes in Southeast Texas with which SETMA is associated. I am proud to call nursing-home administrators, nurses and staffs my colleagues.

And, when we make mistakes, we will ask forgiveness and resolve to do better. That is the sign of professionalism and that is the sure evidence of the lack of abuse.
