In The News - Gartner Business Intelligence Excellence Award – SETMA One of Three Semi-Finalist for 2011

In a novel innovation, Southeast Texas Medical Associates, LLP adopted IBM's COGNOS's BI solution to advance the SETMA Model of Healthcare. The steps of that Model are: tracking of quality metrics on each patient seen; auditing of the provider performance on populations of patients; analyzing of that data to discover leverage points for improving care; public reporting by provider name at www.jameslhollymd.com of performance; designing of quality initiatives basis of this data analysis. This has allowed SETMA to improve mean Hemoglobin A1Cs from 7.65% in 2000 to 6.54% in 2011 and standard deviations from 1.98 to 1.2 in the same period, while eliminating ethnic disparities of care.

As CEO, Dr Holly led SETMA to adopt electronic medical records in 1998 and to morph that adoption into electronic patient management. A moderate size multi-specialty practice in Beaumont, Texas, SETMA is a HIMSS Davies Award recipient, has been named one of 30 Exemplary practices by the Office of National Coordinator, HIT, HSS for clinical decision support, and received the Innovator Award by the Healthcare Informatics Magazine in 2011, among numerous other awards and recognition. SETMA is an NCQA Tier III Patient-Centered Medical Home and has received NCQA Diabetes Program Recognition for all of its clinics. In 2010, SETMA became the first primary-care dominated, multi-specialty practice to become an Affiliate of Diabetes Center of Excellence Affiliated with Harvard School of Medicine. SETMA's Disease Management innovation with NextGen EMR and adoption of IBM's COGNOS Business Intelligence solutions has made the practice a national leader of HIT advancement.
