Perhaps hospitalists can bridge the gap since they don't have to "run off' to the office after morning rounds. But the nature of relationship seems to me to be in conflict with the concept of shift work. Otherwise the moving parts need to be interchangeable. That concept too stands to challenge professionalism. What do you think Larry?
