Nurse takes issue with method of promoting heatlhy lifestyle
As a nurse in the community, I fully support physicians trying to improve their patients' lifestyles. But in an article in Monday's Enterprise, the idea of firing a patient for not stopping smoking in 30 days seems ludicrous. It sounds like a priest asking sinners not to come to church.
In the article Dr. James Holly of Southeast Texas Medical Associates states, "The idea of dismissing a patient may seem harsh." Well, it does.
Why not try to use the skills physicians learn to promote healthy lifestyles without the "show them the door" attitude.
