Dr. Brundage has served as the medical director for case management, utilization management and CDI for Brundage Medical Group since 2004 and became the physician champion in 2008.  Brundage Medical Group is a consulting company with contracts to provide documentation education, utilization review, patient status assignment, and RAC and commercial insurance denials management.  Brundage Medical Group currently has contracts with five hospital corporations servicing over 20 individual hospitals.

As the medical director at BMG, he acts as a liaison between the case management department and the attending physician.  Dr. Brundage helps to render opinions regarding utilization of resources, continued stay and admission status based on sound medical judgment. In addition, Dr. Brundage reviews patient charts selected for Medicare audits and prepares for commercial insurance appeals and RAC appeals.  He also retrospectively reviews physician documentation to create a "Physician Documentation Report Card" that he then uses to educate the physician on his/her own documentation.

Dr. Brundage is an assistant professor at Lake Erie College of Medicine and actively practices clinical medicine as a hospitalist at St. Petersburg (FL) General Hospital.  He teaches resident physicians through daily hospital rounds, reviews their documentation, proofs their dictated history and physicals, discharge summaries, and progress notes.

Dr. Brundage is a member of the Board of The Association of Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialists (ACDIS).  He earned his CCDS certification through ACDIS in 2012 and he is a Diplomat of the American Board of Internal Medicine.

Dr. Brundage frequently lectures to physician groups on documentation and is a national speaker at the 2014 ACDIS Annual Conference.

Elected to board in 2012; serving through end of 2014.
